We know that selecting a new roofing system is not easy. There are many options available and, like most other building products, each roofing system has its own pros and cons. In order to help you as you begin your evaluation, we offer here some thoughts and comparisons that you might find helpful.

Though regarded as one of the most durable types of roofing, metal does have some weaknesses. Metal is a traditionally expensive product. Adding to the cost is the recommended professional installation and maintenance. Metal is susceptible to rust and corrosion, and can be noisy during rain and during expansion and contraction. It is also inclined to have aesthetic problems such as “oil canning”, where irregular waviness or dimples occur in flat areas of the panel (often due to expansion and contraction). An additional downfall is that metal extraction, refining, transport and production is energy intensive.
